Rick Byrnes and his son Kory Byrnes TAKE THE WIN!
Kinkaid Lake, April 11, 2009

A full limited field of 24 boats hit Kinkaid Lake with the intent of boating fish like they had the days leading up to the event. However the rising water and falling water temps due to the fronts that had passed through had the fish in an uncooperative mood. Only won limit would be brought to the scales on this day but there was a glimpse of the big fish that Kinkaid is known for.

Coming in first place was the team of Rick Byrnes and his son Kory Byrnes. The team reported a tough day on the water and did not have a keeper fish at 11.00am. Rick and another partner had won the previous two open events on the lake but had to abandon that pattern and go fishing. They used spinnerbaits, Senko’s and tubes and ended the day with 4 fish weighing 18.73 which was anchored Big Bass of the day weighing 6.41 lbs. They earned checks totaling 1,602.00 for the day.

In second place was the team of Israel Shaffer and Gary Shaffer. They were the only team to bring a five fish limit to the scales and actually reported culling two fish during the day. The team Texas rigged grub baits in 8 to 12 feet of water to catch their fish. They ended the day with a total weight of 14.49 lbs and cashed checks totaling $685.00

The third place team of Paul Estel and Keith Gale used tubes around the grass and laydowns in water depths from four to ten feet to catch their fish. They ended the day with a total weight of 13.05 pounds anchored with a 5.27 lb largemouth which on most lakes would have been big bass. For their efforts they took home checks totaling $508.00
