The Friday Night pre-tournament was held at the First Christian Church in Clinton with dinner consisting of cheeseburgers, baked beans, chips, and cookies. Clinton IGA again stepped up for us and grilled the burgers. After dinner we had a special guest speaker from the First Christian Church in Champaign. J.P. Jones gave us the message from the word of God which produced seven rededications to serve the Lord.

Saturday Morning was cool with partly cloudy skies with highs expected to be in the upper 70's. We had great weather and also seemed to be an even better day for fishing on Clinton Lake. Out of the twenty six teams who competed, all of them brought in at least one fish to the scales. There were also seventeen five fish limits caught tying a record for number of limits in a Central Illinois Division Fishers of Men tournament. With so many limits being reported it was anyone’s guess what team would bring in the winning sack. The team of Brett McCully and Cecil Dickson would best two other teams which had over 15 lbs with five bass weighing 15.99lbs and also the second biggest bass of the tournament with a largemouth that weighed 5.35lbs. Brett and Cecil reported catching their fish on jigs and chatter baits fishing four to six feet deep on main lake wood and rocks. They said their big bass was caught on a senko. With the win Brett and Cecil earned $1,302.50 in prize money.

Second Place was the team of Jason Waldschmidt and Marc Mixell with a limit weighing 15.51lbs. earning them $695.50. Third place was the team of Kent Oakley and Mike Barnes with a five bass limit weighing 15.19 lbs. earning them a check for $479.00. In Fourth Place it was the team of Jim Griffin and Mike Blazier with a limit weighing 14.99 lbs. earning them $281.00 for thier effort. Fifth place and our final payout spot was last months winning team of Phil Santefort and Lance Freeman with a limit of bass that weighed in at 14.78 lbs. giving them a $156.00 payday.

Big Bass money and the plaque went to the team of Brian Baker and Travis Rivest. Travis caught the 6.02 lb largemouth using a jig. They received $156.

The "Just out of the Money Award" sponsored by Riverview Marine, went to the team of George and Ian Estes who finished in seventh place. Thier entry fee of $150 was refunded.

The "Last Place Consolation Prize" sponsored by Reynolds Towing was awarded to the team of Dick Williams and John Stillabower. For finishing in last place and still weighing in a fish they received two Kistler Heluim LTA fishing rods valued at over $500.
