Glenn Walker’s Tournament Journal

Birthday:  5/13/1985
Favorite water:  Pool 10
Boat:  16 ft. Alumacraft 30 h.p. Mercury
Interests:  Fishing, hockey

My name is Glenn Walker and I am from Verona, WI.  I will be graduating from UW-Stout in May with a degree in Service Management and a minor in Speech Communication.  I have played hockey since I was seven years old and I was fortunate enough to be able to play at the collegiate level at Stout.  I have the privilege of having a family cabin in Prairie Du Chien, which is where my passion for bass fishing began.  I fished my first bass tournament in 2001 on pool 9, and my partner and I won.  From that point on I was addicted to tournament bass fishing and from that point on I knew it was going to play a huge role in my life.

I have fished the Walmart BFL Great Lakes division, the former Everstart Series as a non-boater and am planning on making the jump to the boater side in a few years once I graduate and get a bass boat.  One of my greatest tournament accomplishments was taking 11th out of 101 co-anglers in the Great Lakes Super tournament in 2002.  I have fished in numerous team tournaments on the river and on the Madison Chain of Lakes and Lake Winnebago.

After my introduction to bass tournaments, I began to take interest in the sponsorship area of the fishing industry.  I take pride in representing and promoting products and companies that I truly believe in.  At this point I would like to thank all of my current sponsors; Eagle Claw, Gambler Baits, Quantum, RC Tackle, TRICOR Insurance and Walker’s Clothing and Shoes, with out their support my tournament endeavors wouldn’t take me where I want to go.

My 2007 tournament season was a memorable one for me.  I cashed checks in 80 percent of the tournaments I fished and twice I was able to cash a check in a tournament with my brother as my partner.  I also developed myself into a well-rounded versatile angler, which not only helped me be successful in my tournaments, but also learn new areas to fish.

I enjoy passing on my knowledge of bass fishing to others, which is why I am proud to be a member of the FutureBass pro-staff.  My goal is to help educate other anglers about bass fishing techniques and patterns through articles and answering questions on the message board.

For 2008, I hope to continue and build off the success and learning that I did in 2007.  I hope to again jump back into the BFL Great Lakes division one last year as a co-angler before going boater.  I will able be fishing numerous open tournaments and circuits on pools 9 and 10 of the Mississippi.

 Good Fishin!!
