With 35.78 lbs, North Carolina
East Team Leads Day-Two of the 2008-09 $70,000.00 Fishers Of Men Red
River National Championship

(Mar. 27, 2009 – Shreveport/Bossier City, LA)... Day two of the
Shreveport/Bossier City Fishers Of Men National Championship
Tournament turned out to be just slightly less productive for
anglers who blasted off this morning from Red River South Marina.
Anxious competitors concentrated their thoughts, efforts, and
instincts with strategies that would help bring in enough poundage
to make Friday’s top twenty percent cut. Twenty-Eight teams will get
the chance to earn a share of the more than $70,000.00 in cash and
prizes on Saturday.
At the closing of the second day of fishing, anglers enticed 412
bass, weighing 948.40 lbs, and brought in sixty-two 5-fish limits.
With two of three days completed, competitors have now weighed 870
bass at 2018.74 lbs and landed 122 limits.
Kevin Jones and Mike Posten, sitting in the third place slot after
the first day, brought in another good bag of fish weighing 17.85,
which included the Day-2 1st Big Fish, worth $500.00, and weighing
7.25 lbs. Adding Day one’s 17.93, gave the North Carolina East
anglers 35.78 lbs and the lead. The veteran anglers stated that a
single spot had produced their ten fish, that were averaging over
three and one-half lbs each, over the two days of fishing. They feel
that it is still capable of producing quality fish, but if it dries
up on Saturday, they have several other places that they located
during the 2 days of pre-fishing.
With today’s 19.12 lbs, LA-NC teammates, Martin Eishout and Mark
Price, moved up from 14th and now hold second place. Their two-day
weight is 32.64.Ricky Ferguson and David Patrick (Arkansas South)
are currently third with 32.17 lbs.
Holding forth place are Rodney Hicks and Kyle Ferguson (Alabama
South) with 30.86 lbs. Moving up one slot and presently fifth are
Virginia East anglers, Tommy and Ryan Powroznik, with a 2-day catch
weighing 29.94 lbs. The Second Big Fish Award of $250.00 goes to
Iowa’s, Wes Mahon and Russ Musick for a 6.67 lbs lunker.
We want to thank Mary Ann Tice and her assistant, Shannon, from the
Shreveport/Bossier City Regional Sports Authority for hosting the
event. Also we want to thank the East South Baptist Church for
providing our meal, the people at Bossier Civic Center, Barbara
